If somebody suggested that a great new piece of atmospheric music could be created by just massively slowing down another piece of already existing music you’d say they might have gone slightly bonkers. But, remarkably, in this case they’d be right! Soundcloud user Birdfeeder has taken the classic John Williams theme to Jurassic Park and slowed it down 1,000 times to create a gentle ambient/drone piece of music that now lasts nearly an hour!
At this speed it is unrecognisable but now sounds like a track by Stars of the Lid, it’s really quite beautiful! Thanks to the Not For Resale blog for pointing this out.
Someone else has clearly jumped on the bandwagon and done a similar thing to the Emmerdale theme tune of all things! Thanks to Her Name Is Calla for pointing this one out.

This is quite similar to the Justin Bieber track U Smile that went viral after being slowed down 800 times. It ended up sounding like Brian Eno! It’s a fun sound experiment though.
