I’m going to treat this category as “A Band That Makes Me Happy”, as any song by Ned’s Atomic Dustbin is pretty much guaranteed to make me happy! Although preferably it would be from their debut “God Fodder“, or anything else from their early output. Second album “Are You Normal” had a few great tracks on it but I can happily excise third and final album “BrainBloodVolume” as it really wasn’t much cop.
In the spirit of continuity I will choose one tune to refer to for this post and I am going to plump for “Trust” as it has one of the best videos ever! Being old enough to remember seventies Saturday morning kid’s show The Banana Splits I immediately recognise with fondness the set the boys are leaping around on. The hairstyles and fashions may look very dated now but at the time, my god I thought they looked cool! I so wanted an undercut at the time, but the closest I ever got was a mullet, yikes!
The video below is pretty poor quality, there is a much better quality version of it here which I recommend you check out instead, but unfortunately I cannot embed it in this blog (the restrictions of not having my own hosted site)
And just so you can see what they’re paying homage to if you don’t know it, here are Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snorky;

YES! Ned’s always make me happy with a goofy grin. I disagree that BBV wasn’t much cop, it’s really underrated even if it was a departure from what made them so great. God Fodder rules though – probably Grey Cells Green makes me happiest. I wish I still had the Bite EP though, I think it’s on a dusty tape somewhere in my mother’s attic.

It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine) by REM. Try my best to sing along but end up falling about laughing!
