For my guilty pleasure I am going to pick “Mr Blue Sky” by the Electric Light Orchestra. The first album I ever bought, aged 12 was ELO’s “New World Record” after hearing it being played in school by one of the prefects, they had access to a turntable (this was 1980!) and were allowed to play their selections during break times (until one of them played “Friggin’ in the Rigging” by The Sex Pistols at top volume!), so I still have a fondness for them.
I’m not actually sure whether this is a guilty pleasure, yes they’re a bit naff and I wouldn’t go around wearing an ELO t-shirt but I don’t think there’s anything particularly embarrassing about them, now if my choice was something by Black Lace then that would be a different matter!
This track’s not off that album but off their 1978 double album “Out of the Blue” and it’s such a feel-good song, also as we are currently enjoying the arrival of spring and some of the first mild sunny days of the year here in the UK, this is quite an apt choice!
as I mentioned it above I had a quick look on youtube and found this; 😯

Neil Diamond for me, love a bit of ‘Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon’. Takes me back to uni days, though not because that’s when it was out (obviously! 😉 ), because it was a uni mate that was a big fan and kinda roped me into liking him too!

I’d wondered where you’d got to, I thought you’d given up!
That’s a good tune, not that I’ve heard Neil’s version, just the Urge Overkill cover that’s in Pulp Fiction.
