30 Days of Music: Day 30 – Your Favourite Song From This Time Last Year

Final day, hurrah!

My overall favourite song would have been the same last year as it was 30 days ago (see Day 1), I will therefore assume this category means a song from the first quarter of 2010 that I was enjoying.

I wasn’t signed up to Last.FM until June last year so cannot use this as a guide to what I was listening to around then and it looks like I didn’t set up my 2010 ongoing Spotify playlist until May. Looking at what was released around this time last year however, I suddenly realised that of course the album that came in at No.1 on my list last year, Gil Scott-Heron’s “I’m New Here”, was released in February, so it should really be a track off this.

The track I loved instantly was “New York Is Killing Me” and the video below is Chris Cunningham’s hypnotic remix, I love the way as the track progresses the visuals across the three screens start to tie up, very atmospheric (it works better if you watch it in full screen, in the dark)! The original, much shorter version is here.

Stay tuned for the Epilogue to this whole 30 Days thing, to be posted later today!

Finally getting through my last ones!!

Hmm, I think my music went through a chilled phase last year, was listening a lot to Snow Patrol (Crack the Shutters and The Planets Bend Between Us), and the soundtrack for a film called Once. Lovely! 🙂
