Random Pleasures No. 1

A friend’s Facebook status about listing the first ten tracks that emerge from your iPod’s shuffle gave me an idea for a series of posts.

I’m quite a fan of putting my iTunes on shuffle, setting it to crossfade the tracks and having a ready made mix of nearly 20,000 tracks playing through my hi-fi speakers.

So I thought I might do a series of posts each containing ten tracks from a session of my listening (with no skipping!) and putting them up here so you can share the never-ending mix tape!

They’ll be a bit like an audio diary of my listening habits, I will be honest, I will only skip a track if it is non-musical (ie. a chapter of an audio book etc. if you need proof you can visit my Last.FM page to confirm!) so this may well be embarrassing now and again, but it will also act as an almost voyeuristic insight into my iTunes library!

Initially I was going to post each track but realised that a) my Dropbox account would fill up quite quickly, and b) you wouldn’t get the whole mix tape feeling having to play each one. So I’m going to do them as cloudcasts so you can click play and get a 45 minute or so playlist.

First ten, listened to on 03/09/11 at around 2:30 pm, are as follows;

1 – The Cure – The Drowning Man
2 – Grails – Stray Dog
3 – Nick Drake – Fly
4 – Cud – The Mystery Deepens (tune!)
5 – Sebadoh – Ocean
6 – Crippled Black Phoenix – Rise Up and Fight (another tune!)
7 – Vessels – Pea Jerk (Peatronica Remix)
8 – Audio Bullys – We Don’t Care
9 – Silver Sun – Dumb
10 – God is an Astronaut – Loss

Vodpod videos no longer available.
