Retribution Gospel Choir, the rockier side project of Low’s Alan Sparhawk kicks off Vol41 in style, leading abruptly into the witty electro pop of John Grant. The Bluetones’ tune is a personal favourite, mainly due to the memories tied to it but also the line “When I am sad and weary, When all my hope is gone, I walk around my house and think of you with nothing on” which I only found out later was paraphrased from a poem (“Celia, Celia” by Adrian Mitchell).
Honourable mentions also to the rather good cover of Psycho Killer, the classic tune by The The, a bit of new age cheesiness with Dreadzone, and a great track by The Secret Machines. Listen below.
