30 Days of Music: Day 2 – Your Least Favourite Song

Let’s face it, the easiest category in the list! It could be like shooting fish in a barrel! But I will avoid the obvious choices; James Blunt, Westlife etc. etc. and go for one particular song that to this day awaits me in a particular room in hell, to be played on a loop endlessly until I’m snapping off my own toes to fruitlessly plug my ears!

That song, Ladies & Gentlemen, is…. “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus! Yes, that seemingly harmless harbinger of terminal earwormery of Dantean proportions! Unlike most songs that I hear, dislike and can then happily erase from my memory, this one would shoot straight into your brain like some alien invader in the first few opening bars and then that was it! Too late, that hideous whiney pap was in your brain, I’d find myself waking up in the morning, days later, with it STILL in my head, aarrrggghh! It came to the point that if it came on the radio I would physically dive across the room to turn it off while consciously singing another song to myself to keep it out! Not, I’m sure you’ll agree, altogether safe when driving.

Just adding this clip to this post is like handling nuclear waste, just one accidental slip and a click of the play button….. 😈

Very funny! I actually don’t mind this song, although it’s not one of my favourites… I know what you mean about it getting in your head though.

Heh, unlike you, I went for the obvious choice when I wrote about the Day 2 song – Justin Bieber…. urrrg, couldn’t even bring myself to post the video! 🙂

can certainly see why you’d choose him! I very rarely listen to the radio (except 6music) so a lot of these sorts of songs that would certainly be heavily disliked I tend to easily avoid, and I could rant for ages about corporate pop and other music made purely for people who don’t really like music (Simon Cowell I’m looking at you!) but like you say in your post, I’d rather this blogged stayed relatively positive aside from the odd cynical but hugely entertaining observation! 😉

“Love It When You Call” by The Feeling. The lyrics are disgraceful, and it’s super cheesy. Eurgh!

    Eurgh indeed!

So hard to pick a least favourite song of all time. I tend to erase them from my brain. Maybe “Incredible” by General Levy as I was a huge Junglist at the time and it meant that people always sang that to me when I told them what music I was into. It was very aggravating as it was the most watered-down version possible of the music I loved! I think it ended up in the Ali G movie… says it all really! Whether it’s my least favourite of all time, who knows?
