30 Days of Music: Day 21 – A Song You Listen To When You’re Happy

I don’t know about you but if I’m feeling happy, be it for a specific reason or just one of those good moods that appear for no real reason amongst your potentially humdrum life, I need music that will reinforce the positive feelings, get that serotonin flowing. There are plenty of bands that can do this for me but for the purposes of today’s post I am going to choose one of the more recent newer bands that if you haven’t heard of before then you should rectify asap by checking out the video below.

And So I Watch You From Afar are an instrumental rock band from Belfast and in the live arena they put on one of the most blistering and energetic performances I’ve seen since I watched Rocket From The Crypt in Manchester in 1995 (who were high on the shortlist for today’s post). Their recorded output is no less energetic and if the word instrumental has you thinking along the lines of Mogwai or Explosions in the Sky then you’re mistaken, these guys fit better alongside bands like Adebisi Shank or You Slut!, with their infectious mathy riffs.

The tune is “Set Guitars To Kill” from their self titled 2009 debut, their new album “Gangs” is out in April/May (new track Search:Party:Animal)

I love the “whooo!” at 3:14!
